After the first win from Lausanne eSports in the ESL Sommermeisterschaft 2017 we took some time and spoke with their team captain and swiss LoL veteran Ali 'Lagily' Nasserzadeh about the current season, the state of the swiss scene and more. With FC Lausanne-Sports you have a huge sponsor as a team, but how did the contact between your team and the sportsclub first appear?

Lagily: Our team is quite famous within our country and has been dominating the szene ever since 2015. As soon as Lausanne wanted to get into eSports it was obvious that their interest and ambitions would be in line with the ones from our team. Thanks to the good communication the deal with imProve went through quickly as well as fair.

What kinds of benefits do you get from the sportsclub compaired to the usual eSportsteams?

Aside from the ressources that a football club has to offer there is a big fanbase as well. Our vision is to get more fans into eSports and see how far we can develope the swiss szene together.

You had quite a tough start to the season and only got our first win just now. Did the team morale suffer in any way or are you all still really motivated?

No, the team morale ist still really good. We knew that the first three games could be really hard. Espacially since three of our five guys had to do some kind of exams during this time so the pretaration was limited. With the Best of 1 system in place this was even more difficult for us. But the motivation is still there and we will give it our best for the rest of the season.

What is your goal for this season?

Our goal is always to get to the offline finals, which we barrely missed last time with imProve and got fifth place.

How realistic is your chance to reach this goal currently?

With our tough start to the season it will be hard to get into the Top 4, but we will not give up as long as its possible.

Anivia was a ban against you every single game so far. Do you think it is a "must-ban" against your team and you in particular.

No, please stop to ban Anivia (laughs)! Anivia is my favorite Champion and I play her consistendly since Season2. Ich believe that I can have a huge impact in the Mid- and Lategame with her, so I would agree that she is a "must-ban" against me.

Alongside Lausanne there is another swiss team with SPGeSports. How is the relationship between those two teams?

To be honest I do not have any contact with the players from SPG, because they are no swiss player in their line-up. But I do like the organisation and I am a big fan of their mentality. I would obviously be very happy if they would represent the swiss cross at the Finals.

Karim 'Airwaks' Benghalia was the first, and to this day only, LCS player from Switzerland. Do you believe we could see another swiss player making the LCS in the future?

My kind of pessimistic opinion about this is a clear no. I believe that there is no reason to go pro from a financial point of view when you have atleast a half decent graduation, therefore there will be no second Airwaks. On top of that we have less population here and thus less players that could become "Supertalents" and be willing to take this risky path to decline a safe and solid job.

Is there anything you would like to say at the end of the interview?

I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to do this interview. If I have aroused your interest in the development of Lausanne eSports in the ESL Meisterschaft you can follow me on Twitter @Lagily_ for more.
